Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) to join our pediatric care team on the day shift. This 0.9 FTE role (36 hours per week) requires every-other weekend and holiday coverage, with a starting pay of $19.10 per hour plus night and weekend differentials.

You will assist RNs and Care Managers, collect vital signs, document data, and help maintain patient safety and a clean, stocked environment. HIPAA compliance and professional conduct are essential.

Qualifications

  • Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program or equivalent certification or experience.
  • Active CNA certification and CPR (BLS) required.
  • One year of patient care experience in a hospital within the last three years.
  • Must be able to lift and move patients and equipment per safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, documents, and reports vital signs and prep materials for procedures.
  • Promotes patient safety and assists with procedures and positioning.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Keeps unit stocked, cleaned, and maintained; performs clerical tasks as needed.
  • May participate in continuing education and serve as a preceptor for staff.
  • Works under supervision of RN or Care Manager to support pediatric patients and families.

Overview:

0.9 FTE (36 hours per week). Day Shift-7:00am-7:30pm, every other weekend required and holiday requirement.
Position starts at $19.10/hr, pay to commensurate with experience. $2.30/hr night shift differential, $1.80 weekend shift differential.

Essential Functions:
  • Collects, documents, and reports vital signs. May complete screening questions and documentation or minor specimen testing as assigned.
  • Promotes general patient safety. Holds and positions patients and assists with procedures. Prepares materials and supplies as delegated.
  • Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism, and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ensures environmental standards are met and all unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
  • Performs clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Completes continuing education and participates in offered educational opportunities. May act as a preceptor and train other staff.
Education Requirement:

Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience, required.

Certifications:

Active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience, required. Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider), required.

  • Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.

Experience:

One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years, or equivalent education or certification, required.
