Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for our Surgical & Orthopedic Unit on a PRN basis. Under RN/LPN supervision, the PCA provides hands-on patient care, assisting with meals, hygiene, and mobility, while supporting the care team to achieve optimal wellness.

The role offers a structured PCA Training Program with hands-on experience; Mercy provides a 175-hour training program to new hires within 90 days, plus opportunities to advance from PCA to PCT and beyond.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPTC certification or enrollment in a healthcare career program preferred.
• No prior experience required – training provided by Mercy.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs in the electronic medical record.
• Assist patients with meals, hygiene, toileting, ambulation, and transport.
• Provide clerical support as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and blood cultures, enteral feedings, wound care, IV/Foley removal, and tracheostomy care as applicable.
