Job summary

Alaska Communications is seeking a PBX Technician to deliver customer service, troubleshoot telecommunication systems, and provision products/services for ACS customers. The role involves determining cable distributions, installing racks and cabling, and configuring PBX/Key systems, with responsibilities across installation, testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure reliable operations.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and travel to remote Alaska

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license.
Four years training in a telephone apprentice program or equivalent, leading to journeyman level performance.
May travel by air, land and sea to Alaska remote locations to deliver service.
External applicants must pass pre-employment suitability assessment and drug test (DOT or non-DOT).

Responsibilities

Provide customer service and troubleshoot PBX, PAX, Key, VoIP circuits to restore service.
Educate customers on ACS products and services and provision/de-provision services.
Determine cable distribution to fulfill service requirements and install cabling and equipment.
Install and configure PBX, Key Systems, and related vendor components; perform maintenance and testing.
