Job summary

Pursuit-Boats seeks an experienced Design Engineer to lead analysis, design and oversight of mold reinforcement and bracing for vessel assembly. You will design and document production jigs, fixtures, and vendor parts, establishing tolerances and process controls for repeatable manufacturing.

You will coordinate with project teams to ensure alignment with construction procedures, develop BOMs and cost estimates, train the Product Launch Team, and resolve ECN/CAR issues to keep milestones on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ years related experience.
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD and shop floor troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and drawings.
  • Experience with AWS standards and welding processes (Arc/MIG/TIG).
  • Strong interpersonal communication and training skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document and oversee fabrication of mold reinforcement and bracing.
  • Design, document and specify vendor parts for production tooling.
  • Develop tolerances and process controls for repeatable construction.
  • Audit jigs, fixtures and tools for maintenance and proper use.
  • Create process instructions for jig/fixture usage.
  • Lead with Project Teams to align jig/fixture design with construction procedures.
  • Develop BOMs and cost estimates for jigs, fixtures and bracing.
  • Provide direction and training to the Product Launch Team and other personnel.
  • Resolve ECN and CAR issues to keep milestones on schedule.
  • Maintain department schedule to meet key milestones.

SummaryDesign, document, test and oversee the fabrication of mold reinforcement, construction of assembly jigs, and development of fixtures required to support production.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the analysis, design and construction oversight of all production mold reinforcement and bracing.Responsible for the design, documentation, construction oversight and testing of all manufacturing jigs and fixtures required for vessel assembly.Responsible for the design, documentation and specification of all vendor parts required to produce production tooling.Develop associated construction tolerances based on fixture design and implement appropriate process controls to insure repeatable construction methods.Audit manufacturing jigs, fixtures and other tools on a regular basis to ensure proper maintenance and use in the production system.Create process instructions outlining proper use of jigs and fixtures as required.Engage with project teams to ensure that jig and fixture design is in alignment with other construction procedures.Develop bill of materials and associated cost estimates for jigs, fixtures and mold bracing.Engage with project teams to ensure construction procedures are in alignment with jig and fixture design.Responsible for providing direction and training to the Product Launch Team, or other necessary personnel, and implementing jigs and fixtures in accordance with department schedule and key milestonesParticipate in resolution of ECN and CAR issues for production.Maintain department schedule to meet key milestones.Other duties may be assigned.QualificationsMust be proficient in 2D and 3D drawing and CAD software.Must be proficient in providing direction to shop personnel to troubleshoot manufacturing issues in production area.Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
