Job summary

MBI seeks a skilled craftsperson to prepare plugs and master patterns for the mold lamination team in Pursuit FL - Fort Pierce, FL. You will rough and finish surfaces, wax and prep patterns, and ensure cleanliness before spraying, while maintaining safety and schedules.

Qualifications

Job Location: Pursuit FL - Fort Pierce, FL 34946

Key Objective:
  • Successfully prepare Plugs and Master patterns for the Mold lamination team
  • Maintain schedule and quality
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Fair plug and sand all surfaces to designed preliminary shape.
  • Hand sand and buff to polished surface.
  • Wax finished plug/master in preparation for mold build.
  • Tape and prepare plugs and master patterns for spraying
  • Make sure that plugs and masters are clean with no contaminates before spraying
  • Maintain all areas and keep equipment clean, neat, and organized at all times
  • Conduct daily routine maintenance of equipment
  • Store all materials safely at the end of the day
  • Conduct operations using TDC fabrication approved processes (ISPC)
  • Do housekeeping and other job-related duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Work on any special projects as needed.
  • Maintain department schedule to meet key milestones.
  • Ensure all operations are performed safely
  • Willing to work all shifts.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Proficiencies:
  • Use of quality assurance equipment, radius gauge, etc.
  • Composite fabrication
  • Sanding techniques
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safety: provides for continuous improvement and zero recordable safety environment.
  • Quality: responsible for Adherence of procedures and processes.
  • Delivery: responsible for maintaining schedule to meet key milestones.
Other similar duties may be assigned:
  • Understands environmental compliance as it relates to material used in their area: chemical handling, usage, labeling, storage, and disposal.
  • Supports continuous improvement utilizing Safety system, Kaizen, CAR system, and other problem-solving techniques.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of all equipment used in their area and workplace organization using the 5S methodology.
  • Identifies problems (i.e. material shortages, employee relations issues, etc.) within their scope and communicates to the group leader when additional assistance is needed.
Housekeeping:
  • Performs housekeeping and other job-related duties assigned by supervisor/lead.
  • Frequently handles and ensures that cleanliness and orderliness standards are met throughout the plant. This means doing the work him/herself whenever necessary.
  • Keep all shop areas clean, parts put away in an orderly fashion
  • Maintain tool and workstation organization
QualificationsQualifications
  • General knowledge and understanding of required power tools
  • Must be able to understand and execute top quality
  • Must be able to pass the strength/stress test and drug/alcohol screening contingent to the hiring process
  • Job requires standing and working in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day
  • Must work efficiently and in the safest manner possible, following all safety regulations at all time
Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

Employee is exposed to ambient cold temperatures for short periods in the winter months and is exposed to ambient heat temperatures in summer months. Very dusty environment. Airborne particulates from cutting, drilling, grinding. Exposure to extremely sharp tooling used for cutting fiberglass.

Typical 10 hour work day
  • Typical 4- or 5-day work week schedule based upon schedule.
  • Overtime is occasional to frequent based on a number of factors.
  • Required to work indoors and outdoors, year round and in all weather conditions.
  • May be required to work during production shutdowns or other “off-schedule” periods to conduct special activities.
  • Safety glasses required while in production areas
  • Other PPE may be required based on specific projects.
