NWESD is seeking a Payroll Technician to assist the Controller in processing monthly payroll for NWESD or contracted districts. The role includes maintaining payroll files, benefits administration, and preparing payroll reports while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
The position is full-time, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, temporary through approximately 12/31/2026, with telecommute-eligibility after 6 months per policy.

The Payroll Technician assists the Controller or School District Business Services Manager in processing the monthly NWESD or contracted school district payroll, maintaining employee payroll files, mandatory and permissive benefits, federal and state reports on payroll data, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws related to payroll issues. This includes the interpretation and implementation of agency policies and procedures.
High school graduate or equivalent, and a combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. While not required, payroll certification and experience in payroll processing is valued. WSP criminal history background clearance required.
8 hours per day, Monday-Friday. This is a temporary position to start as soon as possible through approximately 12/31/2026.
Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Lifts and carries a maximum of 30 pounds. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time is typically. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. This position is telecommute-eligible per Policy 5225 only after 6 months of employment.
