Job summary

CSU Bakersfield is seeking a Payroll Technician to process confidential payroll transactions for state and auxiliary employees across multiple pay plans with accuracy and timeliness. Under general supervision, you will learn and operate Payroll systems (PIMS and ADP), review transactions for accuracy, calculate adjustments, and verify timely payments.

You will audit, reconcile, and certify various payrolls, respond to inquiries, and maintain strict confidentiality while upholding CSU policies,

Qualifications

• Two years payroll and personnel experience or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and regulations
• Experience with state and federal payroll-related laws and bargaining agreements
• Ability to learn and use HRIS and payroll software quickly
• Excellent communication and confidentiality
• Detail oriented with excellent numerical ability

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions for state and auxiliary employees across multiple pay plans.
• Review and approve PPTs for accuracy before entry into PIMS.
• Analyze and troubleshoot payroll issues using Time and Labor modules and related systems.
• Audit and certify payroll payments and reconcile discrepancies.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and provide timely information to stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with CSU policies and legal requirements.
