Job summary

Tulare County is seeking qualified staff for the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office to establish an employment list for current and future payroll positions. The vacancy may be filled at Level I or Level II, with the Visalia Courthouse as the current work location and a 8:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday schedule.

Salary ranges are Level I: $4,554–$5,551 monthly and Level II: $5,010–$6,106 monthly. Employment may require background checks and other pre-employment screenings.

Qualifications

• Four years of increasingly responsible payroll accounting experience (Level I).
• Five years of increasingly responsible payroll accounting experience or one year as Payroll Technician I (County of Tulare) (Level II).
• Equivalent to graduation from college with an associate degree (60 semester units) in accounting, public or business administration with applicable experience.
• Knowledge of current office practices, general accounting and payroll processing laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist departments in processing payroll forms authorizing payroll actions and deductions, leaves, overtime, and pay adjustments.
• Assist special districts with payroll actions and quarterly tax filings.
• Monitor and review payroll reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
