Job summary

Frontline Source Group client in San Antonio seeks a hands-on Payroll Tax Manager to lead payroll tax processing, compliance, reconciliation, and reporting. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to guide a payroll team through complex federal and state requirements.

Qualifications

• At least three years of progressive payroll or payroll tax experience.
• Direct experience processing, balancing, reconciling, and filing payroll taxes.
• Working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws, deposits, quarterly filings, and W-2 reporting.
• Experience with Forms 941 and 940 and related schedules.
• Hands-on payroll processing within an internal payroll department.
• Experience with payroll data files (Excel, CSV, TXT).
• Experience leading people, processes, projects, or payroll functions.
• Ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and resolve complex payroll tax problems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax processing and compliance.
• Manage payroll tax responsibilities associated with IRS Section 3504 and state unemployment requirements.
• Ensure payroll tax liabilities, deposits, and filings are accurate and timely.
• Prepare and file Forms 941, Schedule B, Schedule R, 940 and related reports.
• Reconcile payroll tax withholding, federal deposits, Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment tax activity.
• Maintain consolidated payroll and tax data for quarterly and annual reconciliations across entities.
• Research and resolve payroll tax notices, discrepancies, and compliance issues.
• Communicate with federal and state tax agencies as needed.
