Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an analyst to ensure data integrity across payroll systems and related modules. You will collaborate with users, HSIS, and service providers on system design, maintenance, and optimization to improve accuracy and timeliness.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years’ experience, with strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. A focus on training, audits and regulatory compliance is also essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field; two years experience may substitute for education.
• Experience maintaining data integrity in systems, including designing, maintaining and optimizing data systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.

Responsibilities

• Performs system analyst duties: supports system design, maintenance, optimization and operational issues.
• Collaborates with payroll teams to plan, modify and customize systems and run reports.
• Conducts audits/queries to protect data integrity and system performance; provides end-user support.
• Prepares training materials and documentation; ensures regulatory and payroll standards compliance.
• May act as backup administrator for payroll systems and support implementation projects.
• Continually pursues learning opportunities to improve duties and share knowledge.

Pay range: $63,875 - $103,800 / year

Job Description

To be accountable for data integrity across various payroll systems including quality, accuracy, timeliness, and usability. To work with various systems, associated systems, databases, and modules that comprise UAB Medicine payroll operations. To maintain data integrity in systems through pro-active means (audits, queries, etc.), serve as a champion between users, management, HSIS, and service providers on system issues and projects including system design, system maintenance & modifications, system optimization, and operational/functional issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs system analyst duties: a) Participates and supports projects including system design, system maintenance & modifications, system optimization, and operational/functional issues, b) Collaborates with other analysts and key stakeholders to plan, modify and customize system(s) to address issues that impact data integrity and testing new features/applications, c) Performs audits/queries through the system(s) that impact data integrity or poses risk to the performance of the overall functionality of the system(s), d) Provides end-user support, troubleshooting and hands-on training (where applicable) in a time-sensitive manner, e) Performs administrator activities including but not limited to data entry and running reports, f) Prepares training materials, procedures, and documentation, g) Ensures system compliance to meet regulatory and payroll standards, h) May provide support or serve as backup administrator for various payroll systems.
2. Collaborates with payroll teams: a) May collaborate with payroll teams through running reports, assisting with file creation, and other duties as assigned.
3. Participates in continuous quality improvements: a) Proactively participates in job-related meetings/webinars and other activities to achieve and maintain a high level of expertise of working and enhancing functionality of the system(s), b) Assesses and provides input for process improvement and automation in the system(s).
4. Supports functional operations of payroll: a) Attends staff meetings and completes all mandatory training, b) Participate in payroll functions impacting all payroll staff, c) May lead projects and activities.
5. Remains committed to personal continuing education and professional growth: a) Pursues learning opportunities that would promote the success of the duties of this position, b) Serves as a resource to internal and external customers, c) Shares knowledge and skills through meetings and presentations.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
