Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Payroll Systems Data Integrity Analyst to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness across multiple payroll platforms in Birmingham, Alabama.

You will maintain data integrity, collaborate with payroll teams, and support system design, maintenance, and optimization while upholding payroll standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field with two years of experience.
  • Experience maintaining data integrity in systems, including designing, maintaining and optimizing data systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Performs system analyst duties: supports projects including system design, maintenance, modifications, optimization, and operational issues; collaborates with stakeholders to tailor systems for data integrity and testing new features.
  • Performs audits/queries to identify data integrity risks and system performance issues; provides end-user support and hands-on training as needed.
  • Performs administrator activities including data entry and running reports; prepares training materials and documentation; ensures payroll system compliance with regulatory standards; may back up other payroll systems.

Position Overview

Pay range: $63,875 - $103,800 / year

Job Description

To be accountable for data integrity across various payroll systems including quality, accuracy, timeliness, and usability. To work with various systems, associated systems, databases, and modules that comprise UAB Medicine payroll operations. To maintain data integrity in systems through pro-active means (audits, queries, etc.), serve as a champion between users, management, HSIS, and service providers on system issues and projects including system design, system maintenance & modifications, system optimization, and operational/functional issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs system analyst duties: a) Participates and supports projects including system design, system maintenance & modifications, system optimization, and operational/functional issues, b) Collaborates with other analysts and key stakeholders to plan, modify and customize system(s) to address issues that impact data integrity and testing new features/applications, c) Performs audits/queries through the system(s) that impact data integrity or poses risk to the performance of the overall functionality of the system(s), d) Provides end-user support, troubleshooting and hands-on training (where applicable) in a time-sensitive manner, e) Performs administrator activities including but not limited to data entry and running reports, f) Prepares training materials, procedures, and documentation, g) Ensures system compliance to meet regulatory and payroll standards, h) May provide support or serve as backup administrator for various payroll systems.
  • Collaborates with payroll teams: a) May collaborate with payroll teams through running reports, assisting with file creation, and other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvements: a) Proactively participates in job-related meetings/webinars and other activities to achieve and maintain a high level of expertise of working and enhancing functionality of the system(s), b) Assesses and provides input for process improvement and automation in the system(s).
  • Supports functional operations of payroll: a) Attends staff meetings and completes all mandatory training, b) Participate in payroll functions impacting all payroll staff, c) May lead projects and activities.
  • Remains committed to personal continuing education and professional growth: a) Pursues learning opportunities that would promote the success of the duties of this position, b) Serves as a resource to internal and external customers, c) Shares knowledge and skills through meetings and presentations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field, and two (2) years of experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience maintaining data integrity in systems, including designing, maintaining and optimizing data systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
