Our client is an organization in the Greater Green Bay area looking for a Payroll Supervisor. Our client is looking for an experienced payroll professional who can lead a team while maintaining hands‑on ownership of a complex payroll function. This position will oversee the payroll cycle from initial preparation through processing, reconciliation, accounting, and year‑end activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong multi‑state payroll knowledge, an accounting foundation, and experience supporting an hourly workforce within a manufacturing environment.
The salary range for this position is $80k–100k.
The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction to the payroll team, including establishing priorities, reviewing work, and supporting employee development.
- Oversee the complete payroll cycle for employees across multiple states and ensure payroll is processed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Review employee time records, payroll inputs, deductions, adjustments, and other information prior to payroll processing.
- Analyze timesheet discrepancies and partner with managers and employees to resolve issues before payroll is finalized.
- Review completed payrolls for accuracy and ensure appropriate approvals and controls are maintained.
- Prepare and review payroll‑related journal entries and ensure payroll activity is properly reflected within the general ledger.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and research differences between payroll systems, banking activity, and accounting records.
- Oversee payroll funding, deductions, taxes, and other post‑payroll activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage year‑end payroll activities, including reconciliations, reporting, and employee tax documentation.
- Coordinate payroll‑related audit requests and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, and operational leaders on payroll‑related matters.
- Support employee and manager questions involving pay, timekeeping, payroll policies, and related issues.
- Assist with payroll budgeting, forecasting, and labor‑related analysis.
- Utilize payroll and HRIS technology to maintain accurate employee information and support efficient payroll processes.
- Evaluate payroll procedures and internal controls and recommend improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
- Support system enhancements, process changes, and other payroll or accounting initiatives as needed.
The Payroll Supervisor will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 7+ years of progressive payroll experience required.
- Demonstrated experience processing and overseeing multi‑state payroll, including knowledge of applicable payroll compliance requirements.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or providing direction to payroll professionals strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the complete payroll cycle, including pre‑payroll review, processing, reconciliation, and post‑payroll activities.
- Experience preparing journal entries and a solid understanding of general ledger accounting required.
- Hands‑on experience with payroll and HRIS platforms such as UKG, ADP, or comparable systems.
- Experience supporting an hourly workforce within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing employee timesheets and resolving time‑keeping discrepancies.
- Knowledge of year‑end payroll processing, reporting, and reconciliation requirements.
- Experience supporting payroll audits and maintaining appropriate documentation and internal controls.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or labor‑related financial analysis preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to balance hands‑on payroll responsibilities with team leadership and broader process oversight.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to partner effectively with employees, managers, Human Resources, Finance, and operations.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
