Under the general direction of the Supervisor II, the Supervisor I plans, supervises, and directs the work of a staff of four Senior Personnel Specialists. The Supervisor I plays an important and highly visible role in ensuring important human resources policies are followed and customers are satisfied. The Supervisor I is anticipated to possess extensive experience in payroll and Human Resources. Knowledge of the State of California Personnel Transactions experience is essential, including experience processing and/or reviewing complex personnel and payroll transactions.

The Supervisor I acts as technical expert to the Department's Executive Staff; Director of the Office of Human Resources; Personnel Officer; program managers and supervisors, as well as to analysts and other staff members regarding human resources, payroll-related, and collective bargaining-related issues.
