Job summary

The Leona Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing for exempt and non-exempt employees across Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. The role emphasizes attention to detail, data integrity, and collaboration with HR and external vendors.

The successful candidate will review time data, resolve discrepancies, and maintain confidential records while supporting annual payroll activities and mandated reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll, HR, or related admin experience.
• Experience with payroll/compliance requirements.
• Experience in a school or education-based environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll by reviewing time records and entering data into the HRIS/payroll system.
• Audit payroll data for accuracy including wages, deductions, and employee records.
• Generate payroll reports and perform quality control checks before submission.
• Coordinate leave of absence processing with HR and Benefits to ensure accurate pay and benefits.
