Florida SouthWestern State College seeks a Payroll Specialist I to join its payroll team in Fort Myers. The role focuses on accurate, timely payroll processing and compliant administration of wages and benefits.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years in a high-volume payroll environment, with experience training staff on online time entry systems and knowledge of payroll regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Two years full-time professional work experience in a high-volume payroll environment.
  • Experience managing and training an online time entry system.
  • End-to-end payroll processing experience is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of payroll accounting and applicable laws.
  • Banner experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with automated online time entry systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end payroll processing in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Manage and train users on the online time entry system.
  • Ensure accurate and timely compensation payments to employees.
  • Maintain payroll records and respond to payroll inquiries.

Job description

Florida SouthWestern State Collegeis accepting resumes in search of a Payroll Specialist I to join our exceptional payroll team. The work performed is specialized accounting requiring a broad range of knowledge and close adherence to applicable Federal and State laws, as well as College policies and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely processing of wages and other compensation payments to employees.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. An appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Two (2) years full-time professional work experience in a high-volume payroll environment.
  • A main focus of this position will be the management and training of the online time entry system.
  • End-to-end payroll processing and experience in higher education payroll is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll accounting and the applicable Federal, State, and local laws relating to payroll accounting.
  • Banner experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with automated online time entry systems.
