Job summary

The Wood Automotive Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll department at Head Office. This role focuses on accurate semi-monthly payroll processing, payroll records administration, benefit and pension plan management, and timely reporting.

You will handle confidential information and support year-end processes with T4s and ROEs. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will liaise with employees and management, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain payroll systems such as

Qualifications

• 3-5 years payroll experience in a multi-location or high-volume environment.
• Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and applicable payroll legislation.
• Experience with semi-monthly payroll and payroll reconciliations.
• Year-end payroll processes including T4 and ROEs.
• Experience with PBS Systems/Clarity or similar payroll/accounting systems is an asset.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile semi-monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
• Maintain employee payroll records including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, benefit deductions, garnishments, and other personnel changes.
• Administer employee benefits and pension plans, including enrolments, changes, and inquiries.
• Prepare cheque requisitions and journal entries as required.
• Prepare and distribute timely and accurate payroll reports.
• Respond to payroll-related questions and resolve discrepancies for employees and management.
• Enter and maintain employee information in PBS Systems/Clarity and related accounting/payroll systems.
• Complete Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll and financial information.
