Gilbane is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Finance Team in Providence, RI. The role focuses on auditing and processing manual checks, voids, reissues, direct deposits, and termination payments, ensuring timely and accurate payroll transactions.

The position sits primarily in the office, offering growth and training opportunities through Gilbane University and cross-functional collaboration with experienced teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred.
• Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required.
• Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws.
• Exceptional analytical, multitasking, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll related data.
• Processing of multi-state payroll, check printing, reconciliation, and distribution inclusive of resolving discrepancies.
• Responsible for post-payroll reconciliations and reporting.
• Provide excellent customer service when answering employee and business partner payroll inquiries.
• Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping confidential information.
• Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
• Ability to work individually and as a team member; Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment supporting multiple priorities.
• Act as backup for other team members as needed.
