Job summary

Inszone Insurance is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support the accurate and timely processing of employee pay, commission calculations, and payroll-related recordkeeping. The role offers on-site work in Lakewood, CA with a Monday–Friday schedule.

You will process bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried staff, verify timekeeping, manage deductions, and assist with year-end tasks like W-2s while ensuring regulatory compliance and data confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of payroll or related accounting experience
• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in accounting, Business, or related field preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Understanding of basic payroll tax and wage/hour regulations
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Enter and verify timekeeping data, including hours worked, overtime, and Vacation
• Calculate and process deductions (taxes, benefits, garnishments, retirement contributions)
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee pay inquiries
• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files in compliance with company policy
• Assist with processing new hires, terminations, and status changes in the payroll system
• Support preparation of payroll reports for management and accounting
• Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 preparation
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll data
