Layton Construction seeks a Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing across multiple departments. You will maintain payroll records, assist with reporting and audits, and respond to employee inquiries while ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations.

The role requires accuracy, strong organizational skills and experience with payroll software. The position emphasizes confidentiality and data integrity in a busy construction environment.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in payroll administration, accounting, or a related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in accounting/HR/finance preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word.
• Familiarity with payroll software and timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify payroll data including timekeeping, deductions, garnishments and adjustments.
• Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.
• Update employee information for job changes, transfers, tax withholdings, direct deposit.
• Monitor payroll deadlines to ensure timely processing.
• Support payroll reporting and reconciliations.
• Respond to employee pay questions and support audits.
