Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist on a contract basis (potential to convert to full-time) to support a reorganizing payroll function. The role involves processing multi-state payroll, data integrity, and cross-functional collaboration with HR and Finance.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of payroll experience, including California, and strong Excel/reporting skills. ADP experience is required.

Senior Payroll Specialist

Are you a Payroll professional ready for a challenge, but in the best way? We have a client who needs help YESTERDAY on a contract basis (with potential to turn full-time). This Senior Payroll Specialist will have a chance to be part of a reorganization of sorts, processing while having a say in what could be done better.

As a Senior Payroll Specialist in this position, you would be responsible for:

• Processing multi-state payroll for a large employee population
• Reviewing new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, and deductions
• Researching and resolving payroll discrepancies
• Preparing payroll reports and variance analysis
• Partnering closely with HR, Finance, and operational teams
• Maintaining payroll data integrity and system accuracy
• Supporting payroll audits, controls, and compliance activities
• Assisting with payroll system enhancements and process improvements

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands‑on in payroll processing while also thinking critically about the data. We're looking for someone who can identify trends, ask questions, and help support a growing payroll function during a period of transition and change.

If you have:

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience
• Multi-state payroll experience, including California
• Experience supporting large employee populations
• ADP experience required (could we overlook it if you have the experience to offset it? Yes.)
• Strong Excel and reporting skills
• Experience working in fast-paced, changing environments
