Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is partnering with a well-established client in the New York area to hire a Payroll Specialist who will own a designated pay group within a high-volume payroll environment. You will handle semi-monthly payroll processing, reporting, and benefits administration, with exposure to leave monitoring.

Direct reporting to the Payroll Director provides mentorship and opportunities to sharpen technical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
• Experience in a high-volume payroll environment with multiple tax jurisdictions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Update managers with timesheet entries and navigate multi-tax payroll systems.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports to internal departments and auditors as needed.
• Maintain and administer employee benefits programs and advise on taxable vs. non-taxable components.
• Monitor and assist with leave administration including FMLA, STD, NYSPFL, and ADA reporting.
• Review and manage database files that generate pay adjustments.

The Role

As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll own the processing of a designated pay group and manage large volumes of data across a semi-monthly payroll cycle. Key Responsibilities

• Process and maintain semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
• Update and assist managers with timesheet entries and navigate multi-tax payroll systems
• Prepare and distribute detailed payroll reports to internal departments and auditors as needed
• Maintain and administer employee benefits programs, advising staff on taxable vs. non-taxable components
• Provide schedules for taxable benefit processing dates and amounts
• Monitor and assist with leave administration including FMLA, STD, NYSPFL, and ADA reporting
• Review and manage database files that generate job and pay adjustments

Support team members on collaborative projects and perform additional payroll duties as needed
