Job summary

CV Resources, in partnership with our client, a retail company, seeks an experienced Payroll Specialist to support its payroll department. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role will be responsible for processing accurate and timely bi-weekly, and multi-state payroll over 1,000 employees.

The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in timekeeping review, payroll processing, garnishments, and the company’s upcoming payroll transition to another payroll program.

Qualifications

• At least 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll for 500+ employees.
• Retail or multi-unit environment experience preferred.
• Exposure to a payroll system conversion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review time and attendance records in UKG and resolve discrepancies before payroll processing.
• Process bi-weekly payroll batches, including hours, deductions, and adjustments.
• Prepare and process manual payroll checks as needed.
• Complete payroll-related termination workflows and ensure final pay is accurate and timely.
• Set up and monitor employee wage garnishments per applicable requirements.
• Partner with district managers and internal teams to troubleshoot payroll and timekeeping issues.
• Collaborate with HRIS to ensure data accuracy and assist with integrations and uploads.
• Support the transition to Workday, including data migration and testing.
• Provide professional support to employees and managers with payroll questions.

Temporary with possibility to extend or for a temp with possibility of direct hire.

WORK SITE STATUS:

Onsite. Hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.

PAY RANGE:

$34 to $35 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST

PAYROLL PROCESSING

• Review time and attendance records in UKG and resolve discrepancies before payroll processing.
• Process bi-weekly payroll batches, including hours, special pay, deductions, and adjustments.
• Prepare and process manual payroll checks as needed.
• Complete payroll-related termination workflows and ensure final pay is accurate and timely.
• Set up and monitor employee wage garnishments per applicable requirements.
• Partner with district managers and internal teams to troubleshoot payroll and timekeeping issues.
• Collaborate with HRIS to ensure data accuracy and assist with integrations and uploads.
• Support the transition to Workday, including data migration, system testing, and cross-functional coordination.
• Provide professional support to employees and managers with payroll questions.

AUDIT & Compliance

• Maintain payroll and timekeeping records.
• Support audits and reporting.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Required

• At least 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll for organizations of at least five hundred (500) employees.

Preferred

• Experience in retail or multi-unit environments.
• Exposure to a payroll system conversion.

SKILLS OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST

• Experience with UKG (UKG Pro/UltiPro)
• Strong Excel skills for reconciling and analyzing payroll data.
