The ideal candidate has 3+ years of payroll experience, strong knowledge of payroll laws, and proficiency with major payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, UKG, Workday, Ceridian).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements.
• Experience handling multi-state payroll preferred.
• Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Review payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.
• Maintain employee payroll records and update payroll information as needed.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Process garnishments, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.
• Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end activities.
• Prepare payroll-related reports for management and accounting teams.
• Partner with Human Resources and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy.
• Support audits and maintain confidentiality of employee information.

Pay Rate: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client in Troy, Michigan to identify a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This hybrid position offers an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team and contribute to the accurate and timely processing of payroll operations.

Position Overview

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining employee payroll records, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and resolving payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and capable of managing payroll in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a high-volume payroll environment

Compensation & Benefits

• $28.00 - $36.00 per hour, based on experience
