Job summary

Thomas Edwards Group is seeking a Back Payroll Specialist for a contract role in Rockwall, TX. The position supports high-volume, multi-state payroll processing for a client in the staffing/EOR/PEO space.

The contract is for 1–3 months with potential for contract-to-hire. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of payroll experience, proficiency with eEmpACT or Worklio, strong Excel skills, and excellent client service.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll experience managing high-volume, multi-state payroll.
• Experience with eEmpACT and/or Worklio; Claude Cowork experience is a plus.
• Experience within staffing, Employer of Record (EOR), or PEO industry; multi-state payroll exposure.
• Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage large payroll data and meet weekly deadlines.
• Strong client service and communication skills as the primary payroll contact and handling inquiries.
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP and pivot tables) and handling data from multiple sources.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary payroll contact for clients and employees; resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure accurate payroll processing and timely delivery across multiple states.
• Collaborate with client teams to address payroll inquiries and issues.
• Maintain and reconcile payroll data from various sources; meet weekly deadlines.

Our cient, located in Rockwall, is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team on a contract basis for the next 1-3 months with the possibility for contract-to-hire.

Keys

• 2+ years of payroll experience managing high-volume, multi-state payroll
• Experience with eEmpACT and/or Worklio highly preferred; Claude Cowork experience is a plus
• Experience within the staffing, Employer of Record (EOR), or PEO industry preferred, including exposure to multi-state payroll
• Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to accurately manage large volumes of payroll data and consistently meet weekly deadlines
• Strong client service and communication skills, with the ability to serve as a primary payroll contact, resolve discrepancies, and respond professionally to client and employee inquiries
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP’s/ pivot tables) and working with data from multiple sources
