Job summary

CDM Investment Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our shared services team in Omaha. You will support accurate and timely multi-state payroll processing, respond to employee questions, and maintain compliant payroll records in line with federal, state, and local requirements.

Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting, and operations to provide dependable payroll support and a positive employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
  • One year of payroll, payroll accounting, or related administrative experience required
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes, payroll tax regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements
  • Experience supporting or processing multi-state payroll preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel, including filtering, formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis strongly preferred
  • Experience with PENTA, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar payroll and HRIS platforms is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with payroll team members and cross-functional partners throughout the organization

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process assigned multi-state weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on schedule
  • Process and review employee deductions, garnishments, benefit deductions, and other withholdings
  • Review and validate payroll vouchers and support documentation for accuracy
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll data and process payroll changes between HRIS and payroll systems
  • Process Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) payroll files and coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure proper accounting
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues professionally and timely through the Payroll Ticketing System
  • Respond to employment and payroll verification requests, unemployment claims, and related agency inquiries
  • Support payroll tax administration activities, including federal, state, and local filings
  • Perform routine payroll audits, reconciliations, and data validations to ensure payroll accuracy, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements
  • Assist with internal and external audits by gathering, organizing, and providing required documentation
  • Generate payroll reports and assist with payroll analysis, reconciliations, and research of payroll-related variances
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation
  • Collaborate with payroll team members across the shared services organization and partner with Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting, and operational leaders to maintain accurate employee and payroll records
  • Maintain the confidentiality of employee payroll and compensation information
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job description

Position Summary:

As part our shared services team, the Payroll Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll processing for the assigned pay group in our business portfolio.

This position reviews payroll transactions, processes employee payroll information, responds to employee questions, and helps maintain accurate payroll records while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

This role collaborates with team members the shared services and business-unit Payroll functions as well as Human Resources, Benefits, and Accounting to provide dependable payroll support and a positive employee experience.

The incumbent of this role will be given the training and tools to succeed and grow!

Key Responsibilities:
