Job summary

The New School is seeking a Director of Payroll to lead payroll operations for faculty, staff, and student workers. The role requires deep Workday Payroll expertise, strong collaboration with IT and Finance, and a focus on accurate, compliant payroll processing.

Based on a primarily on-campus role with potential hybrid arrangements, you will guide a team, improve processes, and ensure timely payments while coordinating W-2/1042-S reporting and audits.

Qualifications

• Seven years of payroll management experience in a mid-sized or large organization.
• Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office application skills.
• Workday Payroll.
• Demonstrated effective communication and reporting skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.

Responsibilities

• Direct end-to-end weekly and biweekly payroll processing across faculty, staff, and student workers.
• Serve as the Workday Payroll SME and manage backend configurations.
• Oversee Workday payroll system changes and updates.
• Oversee vendor relationships with ADP for tax filing and regulatory processing.
• Lead end-to-end payroll testing strategies and W-2 processing.
