Job summary

The New School is seeking a Director of Payroll Services to lead a team responsible for end-to-end payroll for faculty, staff, and student workers. This role combines process excellence with strategic partnership across HR, IT, and Finance in a Workday environment.

You will direct weekly/biweekly payroll operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvements in data integrity and reporting.

Qualifications

• Seven years of payroll management experience in a mid-sized or large organization.
• Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office application skills.
• Workday Payroll experience is required.
• Demonstrated effective communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct end-to-end weekly and biweekly payroll processing for faculty, staff, and student workers.
• Serve as the Workday Payroll SME and manage backend configurations.
• Oversee payroll changes, updates, and W-2/1042-S processing.
• Collaborate with Finance and ADP for tax filing and regulatory processing.
• Lead payroll testing, audits, and data integrity initiatives.
