Base pay range

$23.00/hr - $30.00/hr

We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Processor to play a key role in workforce management. In this role, you’ll ensure the accurate recording, validation, and reporting of employee time and attendance data in a complex healthcare environment. Your attention to detail and understanding of labor rules, especially in unionized or regulated settings, will be essential to delivering accurate and compliant payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries from Ascension Health associates and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Conduct periodic audits and ensure compliance with payroll and tax reporting standards.
  • Identify and reconcile payroll discrepancies and corrections as needed.
  • Manage most non-routine payroll issues and escalate complex cases to management.
  • Apply knowledge of payroll special processing, including garnishments and tax-related processes, while ensuring adherence to policies and internal controls.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of payroll processing experience in a large organization, preferably within healthcare.
  • Hands-on experience with Kronos or UKG systems.
  • Proficiency in entering, reviewing, and adjusting payroll data.
  • Solid understanding of the entire payroll cycle, including:
  • Time collection
  • Gross-to-net calculations
  • Taxes and deductions
  • Pay distribution
  • Experience processing regular, off-cycle, bonus, and retroactive payrolls.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including:
  • FICA, FUTA, SUTA
  • W-2s, 1099s, and year-end reporting
  • Taxable vs. non-taxable compensation
  • Familiarity with accounting principles related to payroll, including debits, credits, journal entries, and payroll GL reconciliation.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college is required.
