Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries in Los Angeles seeks a Payroll Manager to lead accurate, timely payroll operations across multiple entities and schedules. You will oversee processing, tax compliance, audits, and system integrations while partnering with HR and Finance to drive improvements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in high-volume payroll, 2+ years in leadership, and strong knowledge of payroll regulations and ADP or similar platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience in complex multi-entity environments.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxation, wage-and-hour, reconciliations, and compliance.
• Experience with enterprise payroll platforms (e.g., ADP).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
• Experience supporting payroll audits and year-end processing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll for multiple entities, locations, and pay groups.
• Develop payroll calendars and ensure timely processing and funding.
• Review payroll transactions including deductions, taxes, and retroactive payments.
• Perform balancing, reconciliations, variance analysis, and audits.
• Coordinate payroll funding, tax payments, and data integrations with systems.
• Lead payroll system upgrades, testing, and vendor relations.
• Lead a payroll team, coach staff, and provide escalation support.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership.
