Job summary

The Payroll Manager at SVSU Saginaw Valley State University will plan, supervise, and coordinate all payroll operations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time in compliance with regulations. You will oversee the biweekly payroll, direct deposit, tax withholdings, deductions, and reconciliations while maintaining accurate records and confidential information.

You will collaborate with Human Resources, Information Technology, and Finance to support system functionality, process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Five years of payroll and accounting experience.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with Workday preferred.
• Professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all payroll functions for timely processing.
• Oversee biweekly payroll, direct deposits, tax withholdings, and garnishments.
• Prepare payroll data and reconcile to the general ledger.
• Coordinate tax filings and W-2s for all employee groups.
• Assist with nonresident alien tax reporting requirements.
• Support payroll system upgrades and IT/HR collaboration.
• Assist with audits and annual financial reporting.
• Develop and implement compensation policies and reports.
