Job summary

South Coast Baptist College is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join the HR team and ensure accurate, timely payroll for College and Childcare staff. You will maintain employee records, respond to inquiries, and support payroll processes in line with legislative awards and enterprise agreements.

The role works with the Payroll Manager to manage fortnightly payroll, new hires, timesheets, leave, reports, and payroll-related matters, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar payroll role.
  • Qualifications in Payroll, Accounting or related field.
  • Experience using payroll software and systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Understanding of PAYG withholding and superannuation requirements.
  • Discretion with confidential information and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Christian ethos with pastoral reference.

Responsibilities

  • Process fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare employees accurately and on time.
  • Set up new employees and maintain confidential payroll records.
  • Collect and verify timesheets; resolve discrepancies.
  • Process leave applications and maintain records.
  • Monitor payroll inbox and respond to staff enquiries.
  • Prepare payroll, workforce and month-end reports.
  • Assist with salary sacrifice arrangements and payroll-related claims.
  • Assist with Centrelink Employment Separation Certificates and Workers Compensation matters.
  • Support Payroll Manager with payroll and HR activities.

Payroll Officer

Play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and trusted payroll services across our growing Christian College community.

South Coast Baptist College is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join our HR team and support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for College and Childcare employees.

Working closely with the Payroll Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, supporting payroll processes and responding to staff enquiries, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.

South Coast Baptist College is an independent, co-educational Christian school serving families across Perth's southern metropolitan region and beyond.

About the role

Working closely with the Payroll Manager and HR team, you will:

  • Process fortnightly payroll for College and Childcare employees accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Set up new employees and maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
  • Collect and verify timesheets and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process leave applications and maintain appropriate records.
  • Monitor and manage the Payroll inbox and respond to staff enquiries.
  • Prepare payroll, workforce and month-end reports as required.

You will bring:

  • Experience in a similar payroll role.
  • Relevant qualifications in Payroll, Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience using payroll software and systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, employment legislation, modern awards and enterprise agreements.
  • An understanding of PAYG withholding and superannuation requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A genuine commitment to the Christian faith and the ethos and values of South Coast Baptist College, with the ability to provide a reference from a Pastor or Christian leader.
