Job summary

CRISP COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM is seeking a Payroll Clerk to assure smooth operation of a well-organized payroll office. You will maintain accurate records, process payroll, and handle local, state, and federal reporting with attention to accuracy and confidentiality.

The role requires a High School Diploma with 4 years payroll experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office and Excel is essential for daily tasks and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Calculates and reconciles all payrolls, including maintaining employee leave accruals and leave balances, and assisting with leave-related reporting.
  • Prepares reports and checks for proper agencies covering all deductions.
  • Enters, calculates and completes reports for all wage garnishments.
  • Prepares and reports all quarterly and annually state, federal, and other agency returns such as taxes, W2, 941, etc.

Assures the smooth and efficient operation of a well-organized payroll office in a friendly and professional manner. Maintains accurate and updated records necessary for prompt and accurate handling of all payroll matters and local, state and federal reporting.

Requirements

Educational Level: High School Diploma and 4 years payroll experience, office practices required. Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred.

Works 240 days/year. Yearly salary is determined by multiplying the hourly pay rate by the number of work days. That total is then divided by 12 months.

  • Receives and returns telephone calls on behalf of the supervisor as requested using high standards of telephone techniques.
  • Greets visitors in a courteous and professional manner; provides information and handles routine business associated with a busy, productive and smoothly run office.

  • Prepares and reports all quarterly and annually state, federal, and other agency returns such as taxes, W2, 941, etc.
  • Prints, sorts and distributes payroll checks.
  • Calculates and processes deduction payments to appropriate vendors in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains records necessary for and prepares electronic transmissions of TRS, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Oversees the maintenance of payroll files.
  • Assists employees with payroll questions and paperwork.
  • Demonstrates loyalty to the school, school system and administrators.
  • Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
  • Works with school payroll personnel to ensure proper crediting of timesheets and overtime.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
