Job summary

Mason & Blair, LLC, a premier Accounting and Finance search firm in the Bay Area, is partnering with a large client to identify a Payroll Manager for an onsite role in the South Bay. You will lead accurate and timely wage payments for a multistate workforce, reporting to the Director of Payroll.

You will mentor a team of Payroll Specialists, oversee end-to-end payroll operations, ensure compliance with labor laws, and optimize Workday timekeeping integration.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale payroll software, ideally Workday.
• Experience with 1000+ employees multistate payroll.
• Strong leadership capabilities to train and motivate a high-performing team.
• BS Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Payroll Specialists.
• Oversee the end-to-end processing of complex, multi-state payroll, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement of wages and benefits.
• Ensure strict adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local labor laws, prevailing wage regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Manage and optimize the integration of timekeeping systems with Workday, verifying data integrity and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Conduct internal payroll audits and support external audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis.
• Analyze and resolve complex payroll issues, tax discrepancies, and employee inquiries, providing clear and accurate explanations.
• Prepare comprehensive payroll reports for management, accounting, and compliance purposes, including certified payroll.

You will lead the accurate and timely payment of wages for large, multistate payroll, Reporting to the Director of Payroll.

• Proficiency in large-scale enterprise payroll software, ideally Workday.
• Strong experience working large (over 1000 EE’s), multistate payroll.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex labor laws, union contracts, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage, train, and motivate a high-performing team.
• BS Degree(preferred) and 7+ years of large payroll experience
