Job summary

Creative Technology Group is recruiting a Payroll Manager in the United States to lead payroll operations for a multi-state workforce. You will serve as the payroll SME for compliance, system administration, reporting, and employee support, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.

You will collaborate with HR, Finance, and leadership to optimize processes, maintain confidentiality, and support audits and year-end activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible payroll experience required
• CPP certification strongly preferred
• Experience managing multi-state payroll operations and audits

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll operations across a multi-state workforce
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Maintain payroll systems, employee records, and deductions
• Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and GL support
• Administer garnishments and tax levies
• Partner with HR, Finance, and managers to resolve payroll issues
• Support audits and year-end processing
• Identify process improvements for payroll efficiency

What You’ll Do

As our Payroll Manager, you'll oversee the administration and execution of payroll operations across a multi-state workforce. You'll serve as the subject matter expert for payroll compliance, system administration, reporting, and employee payroll support.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and overseeing the preparation, processing, and distribution of company payrolls
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, tax, wage and hour, and reporting requirements
• Reviewing payroll transactions, earnings, deductions, taxes, and timekeeping records to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Maintaining payroll systems, employee records, direct deposit information, tax data, and benefit deductions
• Overseeing payroll integrations and data feeds between payroll, benefits, timekeeping, and HR systems
• Preparing payroll-related reports, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger support documentation
• Administering garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other required deductions
• Providing payroll support and guidance to employees, managers, Human Resources, and Finance
• Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiencies
• Supporting audits, year-end processing, tax filings, and compliance reporting
• Monitoring payroll legislation and implementing required process and system updates
• Maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information
• Participating in system implementations, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives

We're looking for someone who:

• Has strong knowledge of payroll administration, payroll accounting, and payroll tax regulations
• Understands multi-state payroll requirements and employment tax compliance
• Has experience processing payroll for a large or complex workforce
• Is highly proficient with payroll systems such as Paylocity, ADP, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
• Possesses advanced Excel and reporting capabilities
• Has exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Can analyze complex payroll issues and implement practical solutions
• Enjoys partnering with employees, managers, Finance, and Human Resources teams
• Exercises sound judgment while handling highly confidential information
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with recurring deadlines and competing priorities

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification strongly preferred
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible payroll experience
• Experience administering multi-state payroll operations
• Experience with payroll tax compliance, reporting, reconciliations, and audits
• Experience working with payroll and human capital management systems

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods while processing payroll and reviewing reports
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communications
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 20 pounds
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday
• Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Ability to work additional hours as needed during payroll processing cycles, audits, year-end activities, and special projects
