Job summary

SkyWater Search Partners seeks an experienced Payroll Manager for a growing manufacturing organization in the north Twin Cities metro. Lead payroll operations during a period of growth, handling day-to-day processing and system/process improvements as the company scales.

Responsibilities include multi-entity payroll, HRIS/vendor management, time/attendance reconciliation, and compliance reporting. Strong union/construction payroll background is ideal.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a union/construction environment.
• Experience with certified payroll desirable.
• CPP certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile weekly and biweekly payroll across multiple entities/locations.
• Manage HRIS relationships and third-party payroll vendors.
• Oversee time and attendance submission and reconciliation.
• Handle special payrolls (bonus, profit sharing) and on-demand payments.
• Maintain payroll system configuration (pay codes, departments, deductions).
• Review quarterly/annual tax reporting across multiple states (941s, W-2s).
• Submit certified payrolls and job-specific wage determinations.
• Administer union contracts pay/benefits changes; reconcile fringe reporting.
• Support 401(k) audit payroll components.
• Collaborate with HR on Affirmative Action and EEO-1 compliance; supervise staff.

A well-established, growing manufacturing organization in the north Twin Cities metro is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations during a period of significant company growth and evolution. This is a high-visibility role, ideal for a payroll leader who is equally comfortable running day-to-day processing and proposing process or system improvements as the organization scales.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile weekly and biweekly payroll, ensuring accurate, timely payments across multiple entities/locations
• Manage relationships with HRIS and third-party payroll vendors
• Oversee time and attendance submission and reconciliation
• Process special payrolls (bonus, profit sharing) and manual/on-demand payments
• Maintain payroll system configuration (pay codes, departments, deductions)
• Review and validate quarterly/annual tax reporting (941s, W-2s) across multiple states
• Submit certified payrolls and monthly utilization reports for construction contracts; monitor job-specific wage determinations
• Administer union contract changes to pay/benefits; reconcile monthly union fringe benefit and dues reporting
• Support annual 401(k) audit (payroll component)
• Partner with HR on Affirmative Action, EEO-1, and related compliance projects Supervise payroll staff

Desired Skills And Experience

• 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a union/construction environment
• 2-year degree required, 4-year preferred
• Experience with at least two of the following: UKG, Paycom, ADP
• Experience with certified payroll strongly preferred
• Experience administering multiple union contracts (CBA fringe/dues reporting)
• CPP certification or equivalent experience preferred
• Strong organization, analytical, and reconciliation skills
• High degree of confidentiality and independent judgment
