Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll for all employees across salary, hourly, and contract staff in the Austin area. You will ensure accurate data submission and regulatory compliance, while guiding a payroll team to deliver high-quality service.

The role requires strong analytical, detail-oriented, and communication skills, with experience in system migrations and collaboration with vendors and IT. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years in payroll management with at least 2 years in a leadership role in home healthcare or related industry.
  • Experience with payroll system migrations, including external vendors and IT teams.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and proficiency with payroll software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees (salary, hourly, contract).
  • Ensure timely submission of payroll data and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Review timecards and employee records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Serve as primary contact for payroll inquiries, addressing discrepancies and tax questions.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws and industry standards.
  • Monitor tax filings, wage reports, and year-end documentation.
  • Supervise and support the payroll team to ensure efficiency and quality service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and reduce errors.
  • Lead migration efforts with vendors, IT, and stakeholders for new payroll system.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing for all employees, including salary, hourly, and contract employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of all payroll data, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Review and verify timecards, employee records, and other payroll‑related documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll‑related inquiries, including pay discrepancies, deductions, and tax information.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll laws, tax regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor preparation and filing of all required reports, including tax filings, wage reports, and year‑end documentation.
  • Supervise and support the payroll team to ensure efficient processing and high‑quality customer service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, increase efficiency, and reduce errors.
  • Lead the migration process by working closely with external vendors, IT, and internal stakeholders to ensure a successful transition to the new payroll system.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in the home healthcare or related industry.
  • Prior experience with payroll system migrations, including working with external vendors and IT teams to implement new systems.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and MS Office Suite; experience with UKG or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees and teams across multiple locations and states.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and integration with payroll platforms.
  • Experience with automation and process improvements within payroll operations.
