Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan is seeking an HR Generalist & HRIS Administrator to manage full-cycle payroll, HRIS administration, and data reporting. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and strong collaboration with vendors and field teams.

In-person position based in Kalamazoo, MI requiring at least three years of payroll experience, proficiency with major HRIS systems, and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Travel to regional worksites may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of hands-on payroll processing experience with full-cycle responsibility.
• Experience with Paycor, Paycom, ADP, Paylocity, UKG or similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, formulas and data analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Experience working with payroll or HRIS vendors to resolve system issues.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and HR compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Independently process biweekly payroll from start to finish using an HRIS/payroll platform.
• Audit payroll data including timecards, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and adjustments.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay concerns.
• Maintain HRIS data integrity and process employee status changes.
• Create and analyze payroll and HR reports using Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, formulas).
• Partner with payroll and HRIS vendors to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Provide exceptional support to team members regarding payroll, HR systems, policies and HR-related questions.
• Maintain personnel records and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Support policy administration, reporting, audits and compliance initiatives.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and orientation activities as needed.
