Job summary

The Alaska Department of Public Safety is seeking a Payroll Technician 3 to provide leadership over payroll staff and manage a range of payroll duties ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Qualifications

• One year of journey technical level human resource experience; equivalent to HR Technician 2 with the State of Alaska.
• Alternate options include two years of postsecondary education with HR or dispatching experience.
• Background must meet minimum competencies in HR, recruitment, payroll, or employee relations.
• Background checks, confidentiality agreement, and interview requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll staff and oversee payroll duties to ensure accuracy and on-time processing.
• Analyze, calculate, audit, and certify timesheets and personnel actions per rules.
• Ensure transactions comply with Personnel Rules, bargaining unit provisions, and statutes.
• Support DPS in payroll-related HR duties and provide timely customer service.
