Job summary

Charleston County Aviation Authority is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant to manage payroll and the general ledger across bi‑weekly cycles. You will support accounts payable/receivable, reconcile ledgers, and prepare journal entries while ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB standards.

The role collaborates with Human Resources and external agencies, maintains payroll records, and contributes to financial reporting and special projects under the Director of Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of accounting experience.
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll and reconcile payroll and related accounts.
• Reconcile cash, liability, salary and other accounts; prepare journal entries.
• Prepare reports for external agencies and ensure GAAP and GASB compliance.
• Maintain payroll and benefits files and respond to FOIA requests as needed.
• Coordinate with Human Resources to address payroll and benefit concerns.
• Maintain complete financial records and support month-end closing processes.
