Job summary

Pro Mach Inc is looking for a Payroll Director in Covington, Kentucky. This role entails leading the Payroll Department to ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian regulations while providing strategic leadership focused on scalability and process improvement.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and over 10 years of progressive payroll experience, including people leadership and expertise with Workday. Competitive benefits and incentives are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, with 3–5 years hands-on experience with Workday.
  • Proven history of people leadership in a payroll or related function.
  • Experience handling diverse pay types (hourly, salaried, commissions, bonuses, equity/stock-based compensation).
  • Broad knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll, time reporting, payroll systems, processes, regulations, and policies.
  • Payroll experience in a multi-location organization operating in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Federal/State tax filing regulations and other payroll legislation.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong customer service disposition and professionalism.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel.

  • Oversee payroll compliance activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all payroll operations, including audits, internal controls, reconciliations, and required reporting.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with Human Resources and cross-functional stakeholders to align payroll processes with broader organizational goals.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop payroll team members, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Manage external vendor relationships to ensure service levels are met.

Position Overview
