Job summary

SE Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) seeks a Payroll Coordinator to join our Fiscal Services team in Virginia. The role ensures accurate payroll processing, audits, and documentation to meet state and federal requirements.

The Payroll Coordinator will manage UKG WFM/Kronos timekeeping, maintain records, and work with HR and accounting partners to resolve payroll issues and ensure timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting practices.
• Knowledge of state and federal labor and tax laws.
• Experience performing payroll and/or accounting functions.
• Experience reconciling complex payroll data.
• Strong computer skills with payroll/timekeeping systems.
• Experience with UKG/Kronos Timekeeping and Cardinal Payroll.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality with sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform payroll functions for SEVTC employees, including semi-monthly payroll processing.
• Establish and maintain employee payroll records, deductions, tax withholdings, garnishments, tax liens, bankruptcy payments, and child support payments.
• Review time records and process time, leave payments, workers' compensation, and payroll adjustments.
• Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy prior to certification.
• Prepare special payroll transactions and adjustments as required.
• Coordinate payroll processing with payroll partners.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and healthcare payroll transactions.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and quarterly/annual tax reports including W-2s.
• Ensure payroll tax information is accurate and submitted on deadlines.
• Respond to employee payroll questions and collaborate with HR.
