Job summary

SPS PoolCare is hiring a Payroll Coordinator in Austin, TX to manage bi-weekly multi-state payroll, benefit reconciliations, and related tasks for about 700 employees with multiple compensation programs.

The role requires meticulous data entry and maintenance, accurate tax withholdings, and timely reporting. You will support acquisitions and ensure a smooth transition to the SPS payroll process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience with at least one year in payroll processing preferred.
• Paylocity experience highly preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for ~700 employees.
• Maintain payroll data, including deductions, taxes, and benefits.
• Set up new state tax rules and respond to payroll notices.
• Generate bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports.
• Assist in transitions for acquisitions to SPS payroll processes.

Description

The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for processing bi‑weekly multi‑state payroll, benefit reconciliations and other payroll related tasks for approximately 700 employees with multiple compensation programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Enters, maintains, and processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
• Ensures accurate processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
• Performs new state tax set‑up and processes notices such as garnishments, tax levies, etc.
• Issues or reissues physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
• Maintains data and provides accurate information for payroll tax‑related issues.
• Researches payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis.
• Prepares bi‑weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year‑end reports.
• Works with new acquisitions to understand their payroll process and provides assistance to transition to the SPS payroll process, which may include providing worksheets or other instructions.
• Benefits reconciliation for multiple third‑party benefit plans (medical, 401k, dental, etc.).

Requirements

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Excel.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn Paylocity software.
• Solid experience with other related payroll systems, if not Paylocity.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least one year of experience in payroll processing preferred.
• Paylocity experience highly preferred.
