Job summary

OneAmerica Financial is seeking a Payroll Consultant to ensure accurate payroll processing and master data quality with strong audit controls. The role emphasizes compliance with ACA, ERISA, and FLSA, and involves collaboration across Finance, Tax, Legal, and Internal Audit.

The position is hybrid in Indianapolis, with occasional travel to CA, IN, or ME as needed for team collaboration. A college degree and 4+ years in payroll or related fields are required; CPP/FPC is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have a College Degree and 4+ years of payroll/HR service center, ledger, accounting or tax experience.
• FPC or CPP designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Audit/Compliance: Manage quality and audits related to data entry, data intake, and payroll processing to ensure compliance with policy and law.
• Operational: Manage banking, perform adjustments with accounting, backup for payroll processing and payment tracking, and support other tasks.
• Expertise: Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, FLSA, state and local laws.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with vendors, Finance, Tax, Legal, Internal Audit.
• Reporting: Manage reporting for auditors and government entities and departmental metrics.
• Process Management: Collaborate with HRIS on system functionality, testing, training, etc.
• Documentation: Report, audit, controls related user documentation.
• End Customer Support: Manage process email box and ticket resolution.
• Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements and manage projects.

Job Summary

The Payroll Consultant is responsible for providing the quality, audit and controls related to the Human Resources Master data, timekeeping, and payroll processing with a primary focus on accuracy and compliance.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Audit/Compliance: Manage quality and audits related to data entry, data intake, and payroll processing ensure compliance with company policy and legal regulations.
• Operational: Manage banking, perform adjustments in collaboration with accounting, act as direct backup for scheduled and manual payroll processing and payment tracking, as well as support other departmental tasks.
• Expertise: Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all applicable laws, including ACA, ERISA, FLSA, state, and local laws.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with applicable vendors, Finance, Tax, Business Continuity, Legal, and Internal Audit
• Reporting: Manage required reporting as needed for internal and external auditors and government entities, as well as departmental metrics
• Process Management: Collaborate with HRIS regarding system functionality, testing, training, etc.
• Documentation: Responsible for reporting, audit, controls related user documentation
• End Customer Support: Manage the associated process email box and internal customer ticket issues & questions and their resolution.
• Continuous Improvement: Make recommendations for process improvements and manage projects and plans.

Required Education and Experience

• College Degree
• 4+ years of direct Payroll, HR Service Center, and or Ledger/Accounting/Tax experience or any combination of education which would provide an equivalent background.

Recommended Education and Experience

• FPC or CPP designation, or willingness to pursue, preferred.

Salary Band: 05B

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team building and collaboration.
