Job summary

Ledgent Finance and Accounting is seeking an immediate Payroll specialist for a manufacturing partner located in the Minneapolis area. The role offers a contract-to-hire arrangement with an ASAP start and a pay range of $25-$30 per hour.

You will process multiple payroll cycles, audit data, maintain records, and ensure accurate deductions and compliance with wage laws. Proficiency in Excel and major payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, Ceridian Dayforce) is required.

Qualifications

  • Payroll processing experience required.
  • Experience with major payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, Ceridian Dayforce).
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and wage-and-hour compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Review and audit payroll data including hours, overtime, deductions, and bonuses.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy.
  • Calculate garnishments and tax withholdings and reconcile payroll reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities and payroll tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and payroll regulations.
  • Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations, and leave affecting payroll.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and assist with audits.

Ledgent Finance and Accounting has an immediate Payroll opening with a manufacturing partner of ours located in the Minneapolis area!

  • Pay: $25-$30/hr
  • Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
  • Contract to Hire
  • ASAP start
Key Responsibilities
  • Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Review and audit payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, pay adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within the payroll system.
  • Calculate and process garnishments, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and other payroll-related adjustments.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and payroll regulations.
  • Prepare payroll tax filings and support year-end processes, including W-2s and other required reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Partner with HR regarding employee onboarding, terminations, leave of absences, and changes affecting payroll.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and payroll records.
  • Assist with payroll audits and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Payroll processing experience required.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, garnishments, and wage-and-hour compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
