Job summary

Ensign Services, Inc. seeks a Payroll Clerk to support our growing health care client base nationwide. The Junior Payroll Clerk handles garnishments, verifications of employment, and manual checks, requiring accuracy and timeliness.

Based at the San Juan Capistrano Service Center, CA, you will assist auditors, manage payroll tasks, and collaborate with the team during peak periods. A high school diploma is required; accounting coursework is a plus, with strong Excel/Word skills expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in accounting or related field is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Must be a team player, motivated and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain garnishment files with third-party vendors.
• Process and maintain verifications of employment.
• Sort and sign for all manual checks, including FedEx delivery.
• Process manual checks for garnishment refunds.
• Support internal and external auditors as required.
• Assist with scanning, filing and other payroll-related admin tasks.
• Handle ad hoc payroll projects and tasks as assigned.

Compensation Range:

$17.00 - $24.00 hourly, DOE; may be eligible for bonus.

Location (onsite):

This position based onsite at the Service Center in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

About the Opportunity:

Ensign Services, Inc. is currently seeking a motivated and energeticPayroll Clerkto play a key role in our growing organization, as it serves the needs of our rapidly expanding heath care services client base across the United States. The Junior Payroll Clerk will have a variety of routine and non‑routine payroll functions for several facilities, including handling garnishments, verifications any overflow from the team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Update and maintain garnishment files while working with third party vendors.
• Process and maintain all verifications of employment.
• Manage daily sorting and signing for all manual checks including fed ex delivery.
• Process manual checks for refunds of garnishments.
• Provides support to internal and external auditors as required.
• Assist with scanning, filing, and other administrative tasks as needed to support the payroll team.
• Complete additional tasks and special ad hoc projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in accounting or related field is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to do well in a fast paced, multi‑tasking work environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
• Must be a team player, motivated and able to work under pressure during peak periods.
