Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Texas to manage multi-state payroll using UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management, including California payroll, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.

You will review timecards, ensure compliance with wage/hour laws, administer benefits and retirement plans, and prepare year-end tasks such as W-2s. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of U.S. payroll experience, including California payroll
• Hands-on experience with UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management (WFM)
• Knowledge of U.S. payroll rules, wage and hour laws, and related regulations
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP
• Experience administering employee benefits and retirement plans
• CPP designation is a plus (certified payroll professional)
• Attention to detail and discretion with confidential information; clear communication skills

Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll using UKG Pro and UKG WFM, including California payroll, overtime, bonuses, vacation pay, adjustments, and deductions
• Review timecards, troubleshoot timekeeping issues, and support managers with UKG approvals and processes
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour requirements
• Administer benefits and retirement plan processes, including enrollments, terminations, deductions, and 401(k) contributions
• Reconcile payroll taxes, deductions, payroll funding, journal entries, workers’ compensation, and other payroll-related reports
• Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s and new-year rate updates
• Respond to employee questions about pay, timekeeping, benefits deductions, direct deposits, and tax forms
• Build and maintain payroll reports and support audits and compliance testing
• Coordinate with the Canadian payroll counterpart to provide backup coverage

What we’re looking for

• Experience creating custom UKG reports using People Analytics, Cognos, or similar tools.
• Spanish/English bilingual fluency.
• Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
