Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Compensation & Benefits Specialist to oversee bi-weekly payroll for 600+ employees and administer comprehensive benefits programs at our Walker, Michigan corporate office. You will ensure accurate timekeeping, process payroll reports, and issue paychecks or direct deposits while maintaining compliance and data integrity.

You’ll partner with HR and finance to administer health, dental, vision, life, FSA/HSAs, 401(k), wellness programs, and related benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Dependable, reliable, and team-oriented.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Payroll software experience with Workday is highly preferred.
• Experience with benefits administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers the bi-weekly salary team member payroll for 600+ employees, ensuring time records are accurate and approved, submitting payroll reports, and issuing paychecks/direct deposits.
• Reviews and distributes checks, including creating manual checks for lost checks; mails checks to absent employees.
• Supports plant locations with hourly payroll processing as needed.
• Administers benefits programs: group health, FSA, dental/vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
• Maintains ADP benefits module and ensures changes are reviewed and approved.
• Assists employees with health, dental, life, and related benefit questions; resolves carrier-related problems.
• Gathers statistics for renewal processes of health, life, and retirement plans.
• Compiles payroll data such as hours worked and deductions; administers garnishments.
• Responds to managers and employees regarding pay policies and prepares benefit notices.
