Job summary

The City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking a Payroll Technician to process payroll, leave, and benefits with attention to accuracy and timeliness. You will provide customer service and maintain records to satisfy statutory regulations pertaining to payroll processing.

Responsibilities include reviewing actions in the payroll system, gathering and coding time files, reconciling with vendor reports, and coordinating with Human Resources to ensure data accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with payroll and HR-related training.
• Two or more years of progressively responsible payroll operations experience.
• Thorough knowledge of payroll procedures and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Review personnel actions entered into the payroll system for correctness.
• Gather time files and code calculations; prepare uploads and verify accuracy in accordance with FLSA and policies.
• Review payroll vendor reports, adjust in system, process payments, and reconcile with reports.
• Communicate accurate payroll information to departments in a timely manner.
• Work with Human Resources to verify data accuracy.
• Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll and employment verifications.
