AZ HR Hub in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Payroll/Benefits Consultant to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and benefits administration. The role emphasizes compliance with federal, state, and local laws and confidentiality.

You will handle bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll using Paylocity and ADP, manage benefits enrollments, invoices, and open enrollment, and support audits with attention to detail and strong service orientation.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
  • 3-5 years of payroll/benefits administration experience.
  • Proficiency with Paylocity and ADP systems.
  • Knowledge of FLSA, ACA, ERISA and related employment laws.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for all employees using Paylocity and ADP.
  • Verify timesheets, deductions, and adjustments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with legal requirements and policy.
  • Prepare payroll reports including taxes, garnishments, and wage audits.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and enrollments through HRIS and carrier portals.

Job description

The Payroll/Benefits Consultant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the administration of employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering a high level of service to employees. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all aspects of payroll and benefits administration.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Administration (60% of your time)
  • Process bi-weekly (or semi-monthly) payroll for all employees using (must have Paylocity and ADP experience).
  • Verify timesheets, deductions, and adjustments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with legal requirements and company policy.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including wage and hour audits, taxes, and garnishments.
  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
Benefits Administration (40% of your time)
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Conduct benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations through the HRIS and carrier portals.
  • Reconcile monthly benefits invoices and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide employees with guidance on benefits options and ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and other applicable laws.
  • Support annual open enrollment, including communication, education, and data management.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations.
  • Prepare and file payroll-related tax forms and reports as required.
  • Assist with audits (e.g., 401(k), workers' compensation, or insurance).
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee data and ensure secure recordkeeping.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.
  • 3-5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems (Paylocity and ADP).
  • Strong knowledge of FLSA, ACA, and other federal and state employment laws.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Multi-client support preferred.

Pay Range

$28-$30 per hour
