Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a dedicated Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for commercial construction projects in Farmingdale, NY. The role handles multi-state, union payroll, garnishments, and prevailing wage compliance within a corporate shared services environment.

You will begin in-office daily, transitioning to a hybrid model (3 days in the office, 2 days remote) and report to the Payroll Director in a team of about 10.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of payroll experience in a semi-complex environment.
• 1 year of union payroll experience.
• Proficiency with payroll tax, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for commercial construction projects. This role involves navigating red tape, handling prevailing wages, and managing payroll for union employees.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for a semi-complex environment including multi-state, union, and multiple organizations.
• Handle garnishments, deductions, and union payroll.
• Ensure compliance with payroll tax, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll processes.
• Collaborate with IT to improve payroll system backend.
• 1+ years of payroll experience in a semi-complex environment.
• 1 year of union experience.
• Proficiency in computer and technology use related to payroll.
• Experience with payroll tax, certified payroll, and prevailing wages.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with SAP and ADP Workforcenow.
• Familiarity with tax remittances.
• Experience in a shared services environment.

The role begins with in-office work every day, transitioning to a hybrid model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. You will work in a corporate shared services environment in Farmingdale, specifically with the LIRR. The team consists of around 50 employees in a somewhat outdated but friendly and laid-back environment where colleagues enjoy having fun while working. The position reports to the Payroll Director within a department of 9 other people.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmingdale, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
